Madrid - the capital city of Spain, offers a variety of art
galleries, places of attraction and wonderful architecture to its

landmarks that make Madrid so special.
Segovia - the once important Roman city has the splendid 2000
year old Augustan Aqueduct which is an important landmark of the place.
The city is located some 90 kilometres towards the north of Madrid. The
Aqueduct is in good shape even today. It was made of numerous granite
blocks and served the purpose of carrying water from the river Frio to
the city. It covers a distance of 16 kilometres and has a length of 728
metres above ground. Another famous landmark of Segovia is the Moorish
castle, Alcazar which later became the Catholic Kings’ residence.

Retiro Park - This historical park originally belonged to Philip
IV. The beautiful gardens and shady paths invite the tourists to take a
stroll through it. Tourists can also organize a picnic in the widespread
forested areas or can opt for boating on the lake. Visitors are
entertained by the circus acts, the pavement artistes and puppet theatre
meant for children. The place also provides refreshment points and space
for short-term art exhibitions at the Casa de Vacas, the Palacio de
Cristal and Palacio de Velázquez.

Reina Sofia National Art Centre Museum - This museum houses many
famous works of 20th-century art, the prominent among them are that of
Picasso, Miró, Dalí and Juan Gris. The museum has also undergone new
expansions that include galleries meant for temporary exhibitions, a
library and an auditorium with 450 seats. The museum is located in the
hospital that was originally built by Francesco Sabatini.

Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum - This is the most famous museum in
whole of Madrid. It houses some 800 paintings, carvings, sculptures and
tapestries. The collection ranges from contemporary pieces to ancient
Flemish works and includes works of artists like Van Eyck, Caravaggio,
Fra Angelico and Rubens.

Other Important Landmarks in Madrid Spain
Other important landmarks of the city are the Prado Museum that is
considered to be one of the greatest galleries of the world. Parque Juan
Carlos, another landmark is the biggest park of Madrid and houses many
exhibitions. The Royal Palace belongs to the Royal Family of Spain and
is open to the visitors. The Plaza Mayor was initially a market square
but it has later been transformed to a place where all big ceremonies
and festivals take place like carnivals, bull fights and many more. The
Moorish gate, Puerta de Bisagrai and the museum that are located in
Toledo are also important places of tourist attraction. The San Martin
and San Esteban Churches and 16th century Cathedral that are located in
